North (San Fran) Bay Amuzements
Sabbath – First Weekend of March, 2010
Somewhere in North America
Tired as dogs, Teddy and I found an affordable nice room at the Sonoma Country Doubletree Inn late Friday evening. Another meaning for T.G.I.F. in Rohnert Park.
The region is already packed the next two weekends with traveling amateur wine drinkers!
Not knowing what we were getting ourselves into, we arrived in Healdsburgh Thursday after 1 p.m. only to learn that the next TWO weekends the Russian River Wine Road folks are encouraging drinking unrefined wine from wooden barrels. The only qualification is that you pay the Wine Road organization $30 and have an ID that says you are 21 or older.
Annette Powell, Sommelier Aficionado, La Crema Winery, Sonoma County, California
A graduate of Santa Rosa JC’s renowned wine academy, Annette knows Pinot Noir as well as anyone in Sonoma or Napa Wine Countries. You may meet her this weekend at La Crema’s Town of Healdsburg Wine Tasting Room located on South Healdsburg Avenue in front of the Affronti Restaurant and across the street and free parking lot from A Simple Touch Spa.
Food, Fun and Movie Aficionados Welcome
Julianne Moore is planning a great Oscar Night Party at Affronti (www.affrontihealdsburg.com) this Sunday. Food and beverage service is among the best offerings anywhere in Sonoma Country. 235 Healdsburg Avenue. So don’t be square, check it out by 4 p.m. PST Sunday, March 7th.
It may be even more fun than Elton John’s party in Hollywood. Paris Hilton will not be there so it will be cool. If you are lucky, you’ll meet fine art expert J. Howell, mens’ fashion specialist Chrissy Brunkow of Outlander, winemaker supreme Scott Lindstrom-Dake and his lovely wife Erica of Thumbprint Cellars, popular innkeeper Jennifer Byrom of Four Sisters Inns, and Mr. Healdsburg Pedro Rusk who is General Manager of Healdsburg’s The Wine Shop.
