NCAA March Madness – Goin’ Out On A Limb

The conference tournaments are not even close to being over and I am ready to “make a play” on who might likely be playing on Final Four Saturday.

As much as I’d like I.U. be selected into the “Big Dance”, realistically it is beginning to look like the Big Ten will not be part of the Final Four (Michigan State, P.U. and Wisconsin have been unfortunate lately). An all-Big East Final Four seems more likely (The Orangemen, Georgetown, Fighting Irish and Nova Wildcats).

Although, I think it would be best for one team from each four geographical regions in the United States to participate in the finals (e.g. Kansas, California, Duke, KY), the NCAA Basketball Selection Committee somewhere in Indianoplace, Indiana, will proceed to set up another convoluted 65-team bracketed tournament.

So, here it goes … Teddy Rumpkin & I are going out on a rainy tree limb with this pr0snotstication for the National Semifinals:

Duke Blue Devils (Coach Mike K.)

vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Coach Mike Brey)

Villanova Wildcats (Philly’s Best)

vs. Kansas Jayhawks (Lawrence, Kansas’ Best)

In the final analysis, in our opinion, it takes one hall-of-fame coach and two fine upperclassmen guards to win the title… May the best coached team win for the student-athletes’ sake! God bless American College Basketball!

  1. The NCAA Mens Tournament Selection Committee put forth a 65-team Madness bracketology:

Duke cannot play Notre Dame at the Final Four to be held in Indianapolis. Both colleges are in the same regional bracket.

  2. 3 of 4 lost during the first weekend.

Two more weekends to go… only Duke and 15 are eligible for the National Championship now..
