Facebook Banter

I am as guilty as the next guy… I enjoy Facebooking too much to give it up for lent.

For example check out the latest bantering:

D.A.D. :

It is too cold in Northern California for all this “global warming” talk. My stepfather, a PhD from Yale and Notre Dame chemical engineering professor always told us that this “global warming science” since the 1980s was a bunch of CRAP

Nothing said here about ‘global warming’. There is plenty of evidence of climate change.

D.A.D.:
oops, my mistake

I think if you polled recent California high school grads you’ll find that climate change is synomous with global warming. People in the know might know differences and similarities.

“SuperFreakonomics” turns me off from the get-go…

The New York Times still uses it’s credo “All the news that’s fit to print.” In my opinion, the Times is pratically as unreliable as the New York Post, Palo Alto Daily News, Country Almanac, and a few other pieces of “fishwrap.”

I remain anxious about what the current quality of print media, people’s reliance on TV, You Tube, e-mail, and other means of learning (or lack there of) are having a negative affect on the belief and value systems (and consequently behavior) of citizens and so-called experts.
I tell people that I work for or care about to be careful what you read and check the facts from the opinions. Furthermore, think what is the motivation and other emotions behind the “news story”, advertisement, or public relations campaign.
