The 2010 World Serious – Many Firsts

A Week of Baseball Firsts

105 years ago, the Giants won the very first World Series against Philadelphia by a margin of 4 wins to 1. Tonight, the World Series resumes in Texas with game 5 of the best-of-seven championship. A victory would end the series at 4 to 1 in favor of the Giants over the Rangers.

Giants are in the world series of baseball for the fourth time since moving to San Francisco from the New York Polo Grounds in 1958. Although they were pennant winners in 1962, 1989, and 2002, the Giants championship this season would be a first.

Last Saturday evening, the Texas Rangers achieved a first. They won their franchise’s first World Series game that was the first ever played in the State of Texas. Yes the first since 1905.

The odds makers have been wrong before in predicting Ranger wins. It looks like the San Francisco Giants are going to be the first team to win four.
