Redwood City’s 840 (Brewster Avenue) Wine Bar & Cocktail Lounge Gets 5-Paw Rating *****
“840” has a remarkable full bar and wine list which is a hidden gem of a place along the east side of the Caltrain tracks on Brewster.
Teddy and I enjoy hanging out with a younger crowd in the neighborhood. Valentines’ Day 2012 was one of those nights when “840” closed at 2 a.m. PST. GM Gil Gonzalez put on a fine evening with fine decorations, free food, music and sports, and of course excellent beverage services.

In addition to exceptional cocktails and a terrific mixology, customers will appreciate incredible service. Staf are extremely congenial, talented, efficient, cheerful, and friendly. “840” is a charming lil’ place with great ambiance!
Everyday of the week you may enjoy a freshly shaked cocktail or glasses of great Californian and imported wines.
The Roth Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley and the Bearboat ’07 Russian River Syrah are two great reds.
The elegant whites are from Italy, Lodi, Santa Ynez Valley, Napa or Sonoma Counties. Try the Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay. A bottle of 2000 Dom Perignon is available at a slightly higher cost.
Novices may try any of three different flight collections. The Vino Blanco is only ten bucks, the Vino Rojo is $13, and “A Sweet Splash” flight of three American and European wines is just $14.
