Nemo the Frenchy from West Menlo
A Terrific Day with My Lifelong 78 year-old Frenchy Friend Nemo
(Menlo Park, Northern Cali – Saturday, May 17, 2014 – Day of The Preakness Stakes before the 5th Sunday of Easter)
You probably have a few old friends that you have known their entire life and for whatever reason, distance has kept you from spending quality time together ‘just like old times.’ Nemo and I first met in Sebastopol (Sonoma County), California, at the breeder Fulla Bulla French Bulldogs, somewhere around 2003. How my family picked his name, is another long story…
Nemo’s weight and stubborn behavior seems to have gotten ‘out of hand’ during the last seven years of our separation. Our prior meetings included weekends in the “Santa Maria” motor-home touring with my younger blue-ribbon French bulldog Teddy. As you may have heard, Teddy passed onto dog heaven on July 1, 2012, during our second day of homelessness in Southern Indiana where the drought has gone on and on for more than two weeks and we suffered through 90 degree days and over 70 percent humidity for more than six consecutive days.
Thus, it was wonderful to walk with Nemo in West Menlo Park, Atherton, and the City of Menlo Park on a sunny, breezy, and warm (75 degree) Saturday afternoon.
