EPA – SF DAY III SamTrans 397/Caltrain XXX to arrive in San Francisco, Northern Cali, N.A., at midnight; Met Kevin at Palo Alto station; 11 buck ride with 4 bags to Hyatt Regency Embarcadero; Walk to Chinese Hospital for Dr. Joe Woo’s thumb splint; Amtrak office opens up 35 minutes late; kudos to 7-11 who sells half cases of bananas and $4.17 packs of Pall Malls;
SF — EMY DAY IV – Bus crosses the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge in record time; meet many folks in the Emeryville Depot; Just today we found out Sis won’t be in town when I visit Chicagoland; so goes the wisdom of this Pentecost Sunday.
EMY — SLC DAY IV — Attack of pine nuts at lunch; Martin’ entertains; Kid mailed from Sacramento; Took weird nap between Truckee and Reno awoke without watch; Menlo Press is not listed; Outskirts Press books unable to be ordered; Egg sausage muffin and Amtrak coffee for dinner. My phone went out of order last night. Why? It is Day 4, not Day 10.

Just cannot eat enough bananas, sleep, or smoke at all. That woman’s voice is wearing thin on me; can’t wait to get off the train. Oops, Sis finds out it is cancer. Noon drop off at The Hotel Denver.
Walk the town and plan for Pope Francis’ visit. Do the laundry [UP until past Midnight PDT/3 a.m. Eastern Time]… But too important to resolve 3 pairs of really, dirty, filthy jeans and socks!!!
GSC – NEB DAY VI – High temps forecasted as 80 degrees around Colorado and accompanied by the full, high altitude summer Sun… It is only 12 days until Summer Solstice! Wake up call at 0630 hours [that is 3:30 a.m. EDT] and go to Mass at St. Stephen’s in Glenwood Springs, Garfield County, Colorado!!!
Detour: Re-ticketed after ER trip to Valley Medical Center and Downtown Drug store. Weekly Farmers’ Market celebration in Centennial Park from 4 to 9 p.m. MDT, located across from the future home of Country Corner Deli & Market at 895 Grand Avenue (at 9th). It is 9:30 p.m. and things are back to normal at Centennial Park, dedicated in 1985.

Glenwood Springs DAY XIII – Sunday’s To Do List: 1) Meetings at 7-11, 2) Reservations at the Ramada, 3) Mail to Menlo, 4) Check out Village Inn / and Go, 5) Meet with Pastor at St. Stephens’, 6) See “Second Sunrise” with Pricilla at 7-11, 7) Shower and munch-out at Feed My Sheep in the basement on Grand Avenue, 8) Attend four masses and get multiple Fathers’ Day blessings, 9) Sleep at the north side Ramada for free until three.
Glenwood Springs departure via Amtrak about Three – DAY XIV – Monday! – Don’t forget the California Zephyr from Chicago back to the Bay Area, Sit in at Occupy Glenwood Crossing!!!
After Midnight of Day XV on Westbound Zephyr through the great Salt Lake City: Our Zephyr is running about three hours late. Passengers have been abandoned and the Club Car majestically run by John is closed. Dozens of passengers board at the Salt Lake City Terminal as fewer than that number get to Utah only knowing that their pick-up rides have left on-time without them. By 2 a.m. MDT, it is raining. By 6:10 a.m. PDT, I am up and at them!
DAY FIFTEEN – Amtrak puts three buses of us off the California bound Zephyr and we go with Albert to Martinez and SF. I must borrow $140.00 to grab a SF Taxi from the Financial District of SF to West Menlo Park. Tuesday Evening Arrival at the Ferry Building amidst Rush Hour – Reservation at We Hope Primate Warming Shelter in East Palo Alto at 1858 Bay Road; postponed.
On the westbound train – DAY 16 of the Catholic pilgrimage – Tuesday, June 16 – 8:00 mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Eat luncheon at the East Palo Alto Senior Center. Hike to Woodside Mail Office and Chase Manhattan Bank, early in the a.m. Take Punjab cab from Buck’s Restaurant to get laundry from Ivory in EPA and Debbie in MP and stay near the Country Corner of Northern Cali.

Believe it or not…
This is my last night in Woodside of the County of San Mateo!
Only three men know where I am spending my last night in this part of the world that I have lived since 1980. Yep, 34 years is more than half of my life and I am not even a Californian. Yep, born and raised in either Northern or Southern Indiana or the West Coast of Florida for the first 24 years of my life before moving to Chicago.
The California Zephyr will take me where I need to go next… to the Strawberry Festival in Garfield County, Colorado. I should arrive in-time for lunch on Saturday [the 2014 day of the Summer Solstice]!!!
