To Whom It May Frickin’ Concern . . .
Dear Sirs, Madams, Kiddoes, and Pooches:
I have been wondering what has kept me from finding my annual goal to travel toward the holy of the holies in Spain (San Sebastian), France (‘Our Lady of Bordeaux’), Israel (Holy Land), Greece (Classic Philosophy and Architecture), Germany (Bavarian Bruggners), and Italy (Tuscany and The Vatican). Good thing God has a sense of humor because I find myself in funny predicaments daily.
Read ahead and feel free to give me your feedback.

Believe it or not…
This is my last night in Woodside of the County of San Mateo!
Only three men know where I am spending my last night in this part of the world that I have lived since 1980. Yep, 34 years is more than half of my life and I am not even a Californian. Yep, born and raised in either Northern or Southern Indiana or the West Coast of Florida for the first 24 years of my life before moving to Chicago.
Left The Country Corner of Northern California prior to the lunch rush with a chicken salad by Carmen with South America leading Africa 2 to zero.
The California Zephyr will take me where I need to go next… to the Strawberry Festival in Garfield County, Colorado. I should arrive in-time for lunch on Saturday [the 2014 day of the Summer Solstice]!!!
DAY XVIII – Friday
DAY XVIV – Saturday and Almost thrown off the train in Nevada
DAY XX – Sunday Mid-day Arrival for the Strawberry Festival
DAY XXI – Monday, June23 – Grandma would be 111 years-old today. Celebrated by going to the early opening of Sweet Coloradough and Mass.
DAY XXII – Tuesday, June 24 – Evening was best at Centennial Park, the First Methodist Church, rosary with the Polish-Americans, and softball at Sayre Park.
DAY XXIII – Wednesday/Humpday at the overnight post office, Safeway, mass, daycare, library, and dining room. No room at the Hotel Colorado for me, but a slow trip out to the Westside.
DAY XXIV – Thursday, June 25 – Housing search begins in earnest at 8 followed by an 11 o’clock mass, and special trip to meet my new gastroenterologist.
DAY 25 – DAY XXV of the Pilgrimage is up to the last Friday in June before the Fourth of July Weekend. At least I am looking forward to publishing the first “Dailey Sun” due out on 7-3-2014. Missionary Day Number XXV was spent entirely during daylight hours in Rifle, Colorado, with no phone service.
Great Farmers Market from 4 to 8 p.m. with a fine four-piece rock and blues band.
Awful bus service by the Rat F*ck Transit Authority (RFTA). For five bucks, one cann only get as far as Rifle to ‘Glenwood… not even to the Aspen Hospital. Just to ‘fricken Glenwood Springs Valley View Hospital Emergency Room. “Why bother?” says Adrian. Go figure that he – Adrian – is in-love with the cute little blond with insulting daughter. Joe’s in-love with who?
DAY XXVI – Saturday, June 28, 2014 – The morning began at Midnight near the ‘miracle fountain’ of St. Stephen’s Church. The fountain was afoul of red rocks dissolving and missing most all shrine a dozens of coins prayers and wishers had thrown into it. The grasslands are now plagued with mold because of sporadic sprinklering of the extensive lawn way too much in the dark hours of the night and morning. My clothes and paperwork got soaked. Oh my, the shrine now looks like a Chicano hanging laundry drying yard.
Spending it –at the 3 a.m. mountain time hour – with the Norwegian Night Auditor Lindsay at The Hotel Colorado.
Called Joe B. at 9:30 a.m. Where is Joe now? Come Joe Come to the Gazebo Shelter at Sayre Park!
Just got off my cell with Joe at 10:02, he laughed and said to call him back in one hour… later. At about 4:30 p.m. MDT, I left a voicemail message for him to come before Ellen’s baby shower ends in the adjacent large picnic area.
An evening ‘on the town’ was enjoyed with Samantha, Dennis, Travis, and Luke along the Promenade. Not to mention all the fun us guys had at the best Seven-Eleven in the Western Hemisphere on South Grand Avenue.
DAY XXVII – “Blessed Day 27 of My Spiritual Mission with God” – This just happens to be the annual weekend celebration of the grand Saints Peter and Paul [otherwise known as Barney and Saul]. It was so damp and cold as I awoke about 0600 hours in the wet, night-sprinklered gazebo. As soon as I could gather my things with my aching body, Helen jumped into the cart and we headed off to the Glenwood Springs Southside Safeway. With refills of java priced at 54 cents, we may be drinking overtime and be late for the Knights of Columbus’ pancake breakfast down in St. Stephens’ Parish Hall after the 8 o’clock high mass. High mass you say? I guess Helen and I better get stoned in between cups of this new African bean coffee offering of Starbuck’s siren.
Day XXXIII will be Saturday, July 5th at the Vaudeville Review on Grand Avenue!!!
