Shadowing the Priest on Easter Saturday – Eve of the Sainthood Canonization of Popes John Paul II and John the 23rd

(East Palo Alto – Saturday, April 26, 2014)

Pastor, Father Larry Goode, today is leading a flock of over 200 children through their first holy confession, celebrating mass, providing the holy sacraments to hundreds; All the while performing dozens of daily duties for the St. Francis of Assisi Parish.

Up before dawn, Father Goode’s preparations were completed. By nine o’clock nearly 100 children and their parents gathered at the rear of the church built in 1953 and 1954 to receive instructions prior to receiving their sacraments.

For example, from Berkeley California church St. Joseph the Worker, Fr. John Direen of Berkeley, is one of a half dozen priests helping the youth of St. Francis of Assisi.

Sunday, marks the special mass at St. Peter Basilica at the Vatican by Pope Francis recognizing the sainthood of Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II.

Following confession for over 250 new Catholics, St. Francis of Assisi Church hosted a wedding, debutante masses, baptisms, and other Christian ceremonies.

Time was ripe to plan another party for Sunday morning. Joe is going to provide transportation from the East Palo Alto homeless shelter to the Catholic shrine of St. Francis of Assisi – 1425 Bay Road, East Palo Alto, between University Avenue and Willow Road – for viewing of the canonization live from Rome at 3:30 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time (in the darkness).
